Fancy Nancy!

We have been busy busy in First Grade! I just love Fancy Nancy books. They are such a wonderful way to teach vocabulary. I sort of dress up as Fancy Nancy...I throw a Boa on:) That is just enough glam:) Then I write the words onto chart paper and teach them to my students. I read the story aloud and as I come to a Fancy Word I point my Fancy wand pointer and the children read the word from the chart. Once we have read the book, it is time for Workstations. Here are some pics of my workstations I do...
I made these vocabulary cards and definitions. We play memory, vocab sort,etc...I also created other response sheets to go along with any Fancy Nancy story and the characters in my Fancy Nancy Common Core Unit. Click on the Teachers Pay Teachers button and take a look at the unit. My students love Fancy Nancy Day! and so do I:)Have a wonderful day!

Common Core and a Bit More Response Sheets for First Grade
I created 57 response sheets to go along with each standard for Literature and Informational Text. These are great to use with any story. After my amazing firsties read their story of the week in small group reading, we completed a response sheet. They LOVED it! These are perfect to go with my Data Notebook I am in the middle of creating and will be available soon:) Here are a few snap shots of my students working on their Common Core:)
You can check it out by clicking the Teachers Pay Teachers button :) thanks for stopping by!
OPEN HOUSE It is that time of year already. We had our Open House last night and I made these yummy treats for my amazing parents!
I started with a bag of Almond Joys, ribbon, and cards that I made. They read: It is a JOY to be your child's teacher.
I set these treats at the sign in station for parents to see as they entered my room.
Each of my students made self portraits of themselves. I started making these years ago when my sweet kiddo was in Kindergarten. Her teacher made them and I thought they were the cutest! It looks like everyone is sitting in there seats.
What are some things you do for your Open House? I would love to hear from you.
